TITAN Formwork Slab forming system The aluminum slab formwork system can be adapted to fit any plan layout with just four main components. On taller buildings erecting the formwork for cantilevering slabs, perimeter down stand beams, spandrel panels, etc. is more time consuming than standard floor bays. Furthermore, such work is very dangerous. In such cases TITAN Formwork is TITAN Formwork with the TITAN Formwork RT edge table. The concept In contrast to conventional flexible formwork systems, in the TITAN Formwork system the main beams and secondary beams are fixed in the same plane. This is possible thanks to the support ledges on the main beams and drop-heads, onto which the incoming beams are hooked. The uneconomical overlapping of beams – the situation with conventional formwork – is absent from the TITAN Formwork system. The beams form an interlocking grid that is stable in itself – even without any plywood sheeting. Nevertheless, TITAN Formwork is still fully flexible: by changing the direction of the span (simply fit main beams together at 90°), the grid can be adapted as required to fit any plan layout. Interruptions such as columns, wall corners, make-up panels, curved walls, etc. are therefore no longer a problem. The main and secondary beams can be arranged to suit. The system is complemented by the panel. This consists of an aluminum frame with an integral 10 mm GFRP sheet. These panels are fitted between the main beams instead of using secondary beams plus separate 0.5 x 2.0 m plywood sheets. Make-up areas are systematically closed off with main and secondary beams plus 21 mm plywood sheeting. The drop-head system enables the formwork to be struck just two days after concreting without having to remove the props (post shores). All the main and secondary beams (or formwork panels) are then available for the next concreting operations. Practical experience has shown that the TITAN Formwork system reduces the time needed for erecting and striking formwork considerably when compared to conventional slab formwork. This means that just two uses per month are enough to recoup the cost of hiring the components. The erection of TITAN Formwork is very easy and quick to learn. Countless uses on building sites all over the world have proved this. A two-person formwork crew can work independently. The erection of the formwork can begin at several places simultaneously using several formwork crews. For transport on site without the need for cranes, the components should be stored in wheeled storage racks “Barelle”. Setting up the formwork is carried out: without having to set out the prop spacing beforehand because the props are automatically positioned by the lengths of the beams with just 0.4 props/m² on average without unnecessary extra props “just to make sure” because the system does not permit any additional props safely because the erection work is carried out from below ergonomically and with minimal fatigue The plywood sheeting is selected according to the desired soffit finish, the number of reuses and the availability – irrespective of the system. The standardized, easy-to-use three-ply 0.5 x 2.0 m sheets with edge protection have proved worthwhile for standard solutions. The plywood sheeting is laid in the same direction as the main beams. In order to release as many sheets as possible when striking early, they should not be butt-jointed over the main beams.
